Summer Bass Fishing: The Tackle You'll Need

Fishing in the heat of summer can be difficult and can show little to no results. Some of the best fishing in the day will be in the morning and evening. I comprised a list of the best lures to tempt those bass into eating. Along with the lure will be the best practices, so you will get the most fish you can get.

Spinnerbaits

Spinnerbaits are shown to be effective everywhere, but are highly effective in murky water because of their shine and movement in the water. You will want to throw this lure over drop-offs and some cover, with a slow retrieve. You will want to make sure that the sun is reaching your lure so it reflects the light.

Lipless Crankbait

When using the lipless crankbait you will want the color to match the fish in your area. Try and get a color like a bluegill or shade. You can throw this in both deep or shallow water, if the fish are deeper retrieve slower if they are higher retrieve faster. Again you will look for some cover that the fish might be on.

Topwater Frog

Some of my favorite fishing is with a topwater frog. You will throw this when there is moss, Lilly pads, or a lot of grass cover. You will give it a little pop when realing it in and stopping every time you give it a pop so the bass has time to attack. This will get the bass very aggressive and they gives you a show.

Skirted Jig

Using a skirted jig will get you through heavy vegetation and is a big presentation for the bass. You will have this on the bottom with small jerks, after a little jerk let it sit for a couple seconds and do it again. I like to throw this in rocky, sandy, and some covered areas. this is a great lure because a lot of bass will be sitting at the bottom when it is hot outside. So, when using this lure get ready for some monsters.

Plastic Worms

Plastic worms can be used to get you some great fish if you use them in the right way. If you are fishing in a shallow area use the Carolina rig and if in deeper water use Texas rig. Try a variety of colors that will work for you, but my favorite are natural colors.
